Our
second film feature has now wrapped! The working title is
'Ruby Red Chequer' but will probably be called 'Ruby Blue'.
It follows the story of a character called 'Jack' played
by Bob Hoskins and 'Stephanie' played by Josiane Balasko.
The shoot took 3 weeks using locations in and around Ramsgate
(including a few scenes at the hotel) and cast (inc Bob!)
and crew all stayed with us, including the production offices
and editing/post production suite. Fun and frenetic time
was had by all and I am sorry if any regular guests couldn't
get in during the 3 weeks Medb films was with us.

in December 2004 when she was filming 'Gypo'

stay in the Royal Harbour Hotel..from page 289 onwards...it
even mentions our great 'Darling Jamie's Kedgeree' on page
292, a speciality of my mother who when writing down the
recipe to me in a letter launched straight into the instructions
after starting with her normal words: 'Darling Jamie'..and
so this dish passes into legend!

DAY 4...we
don't count weekends! And the room has taken shape. The partition
is down . The chimney has been swept. The bed and bedside
tables are put in their respective positions so that we can
get a feel of the space as well as pinpoint with accuracy
positions for the electrical sockets and radiators. At this
stage we are also looking at where bookshelves, minibar, cupboards,
chairs, entertainment equipment etc can all go as well as
guage the size and postion of the new bathroom. And we have
a new completion date promised by Paul the builder. It's Saturday
25th March..for his sister to spend her wedding night in.
Nothing like a little bit of family pressure to ensure that
everything will be ready! |

DAY 1 At
last we have started to knock together rooms 4 and 5 to make
one large bedroom on the first floor. This room will be our
'best room' and will include 2 French windows with a double
balcony with amazing views over the harbour, a real open fireplace
which you will be able to light, an oversized teak 4 poster
bed as well as other gadgets and comfy things that my budget
will allow. The builder has promised this room to be finished
in time for the Easter weekend, and so we will be taking result
pictures on a daily basis to record their progress. One picture
will be printed here on a daily basis (during the working
week, you know builders don't do weekends!) so you too can
monitor their progress. And it 's available for booking as
well! If you want to be the first to stay then drop us a line! |

WOMAN
IN WHITE, the new Lloyd Webber musical opens at The
Palace Theatre in London. The book was written by Wilkie Collins,
overshadowed by Charles Dickens in his day. Collins lived
in Nelson Crescent on Ramsgate's West Cliff, just two houses
away from the hotel. Well, some of the time. The other half
of his time and his other half was in Wellington Crescent
on Ramsgate’s East Cliff. Here he kept his second mistress.
Looking out at just the sea can get awfully monotonous. So
we guess that he preferred Nelson Crescent and its occupant.
There was the harbour below with its bustling, ever changing
scenes. Something to talk about together! It is the same today.
