Behaviour

Behaviour of guests and their visitors should not be excessive or rowdy, and must not cause embarrassment to fellow guests. We reserve the right to recover any compensation payment as a result of your actions, or a member of your party or visiting friends. This includes damage to hotel buildings, fixtures and fittings. There will be a minimum charge of £25 for any such damage but could increase with the nature of the damage. 

CCTV Privacy Notice

CCTV AND AUDIO RECORDING PRIVACY NOTICE

  1. Introduction

The Royal Harbour Hotel operates Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and audio recording systems at its premises located at 10, 11 and 14 Nelson Crescent, Ramsgate, Kent CT11 9JF.

This notice explains how and why we collect, use, store and protect CCTV and audio recordings in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  1. Purpose of CCTV and Audio Monitoring

We operate CCTV and audio recording systems for the following purposes:

• Ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff and visitors
• Preventing and detecting crime, vandalism, anti-social behaviour and misconduct
• Protecting hotel property and assets
• Assisting law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prosecution of criminal offences
• Investigating accidents, incidents and health and safety matters
• Managing and resolving complaints or disputes relating to activities within monitored areas

  1. Lawful Basis for Processing

The lawful basis for processing CCTV and audio recordings is our legitimate interest in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, staff, contractors and visitors and protecting our business, property and assets.

  1. Locations of Cameras

CCTV cameras are installed in public and communal areas of the hotel, including:

• Entrances and exits
• Reception areas
• Corridors and stairwells
• Public lounges and communal areas
• External areas surrounding the premises
• Car park and access routes

No cameras are installed within guest bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets or any other areas where individuals would reasonably expect privacy.

  1. Audio Recording

Certain CCTV cameras may also record audio in public and communal areas of the hotel.

Clear signage is displayed throughout the premises informing individuals that both video and audio recording may take place.

  1. Storage and Retention

CCTV and audio recordings are stored securely and access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Recordings are normally retained for a period of 60 days, after which they are automatically overwritten or deleted unless required for:

• The investigation of an incident or complaint
• Insurance purposes
• Legal proceedings
• A request from law enforcement agencies

  1. Sharing of Recordings

Recordings may be disclosed where appropriate to:

• Police and other law enforcement agencies
• Insurers and loss adjusters
• Solicitors, courts or other legal representatives
• Regulatory or enforcement authorities where required by law

Recordings will not be sold or shared for marketing purposes.

  1. Individual Rights

Individuals whose images or voices have been recorded may have rights under data protection legislation, including the right to request access to personal data held about them, subject to applicable exemptions and the rights of other individuals.

Telephone Call Recording Privacy Notice

1. Introduction

 

The Royal Harbour Hotel records telephone calls made to and from our premises for operational, security, and training purposes. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect call recordings in compliance with applicable UK data protection laws.

 

2. Purpose of Call Recording

 

We record calls for the following purposes:

  • Ensuring the quality of customer service and staff training

  • Resolving queries, complaints, and disputes

  • Protecting the security of guests, staff, and the hotel

  • Complying with legal obligations and assisting law enforcement where necessary

 

3. Lawful Basis for Processing

 

We record telephone calls under the following lawful bases:

  • Legitimate Interests: To improve customer service, ensure accuracy, and enhance security

  • Legal Obligation: Where required to comply with the law or regulatory requirements

  • Contractual Necessity: When processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you

 

4. How We Use and Store Call Recordings

  • Calls are recorded and stored securely for a period of 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted unless required for a specific investigation.

  • Access to call recordings is restricted to authorized personnel only.

  • Call recordings are not used for marketing purposes without explicit consent.

 

5. Sharing of Call Recordings

We may share call recordings with:

  • Law enforcement agencies upon lawful request

  • Regulatory authorities where legally required

  • Legal representatives in the case of legal proceedings

We do not sell or share call recordings with third parties for commercial purposes.

Group Bookings

Please inform us before arrival if you are travelling in a group of six of more. We reserve the right to refuse unauthorised groups. We do not accept stag or hen parties. 'Large groups' may be required to provide an additional deposit at check-in, returnable on departure if unaffected.

Valuables

We cannot be held responsible for cash or valuables left in your room or in your car if left in our car park.

Smoking

There is a NON SMOKING and NON VAPING policy in the hotel, and this includes out of the windows. If you do smoke or vape then you will be charged £500 and will also be asked to leave the hotel, forfeiting any payments or deposits made.  You may smoke in the hotel garden to the rear of the property.

If you are in a balcony room you may smoke or vape on the balcony. If you are going to smoke on the balcony please ask for an ashtray. Please do not throw your cigarette butt into the road below, 

Front Door Policy

You will either be given a front door key or an access code for coming and going. Please ensure that you close the front door securely on your way in and out. Failing to do so will not only compromise the safety of the building, and that of you and your fellow guests and staff but it will also incur a £150 surcharge on your bill.

Force Majeure

The Royal Harbour Hotel cannot accept responsibility or pay any compensation where the contract is prevented or affected by reason of circumstances which amount to “force majeure”. Circumstances amounting to “force majeure” include any event which we could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such circumstances include the destruction or damage of your accommodation (which cannot reasonably be remedied to a satisfactory standard before the start of your stay) through fire, flood, explosion, storm or other weather damage, break-in, criminal damage, riots or civil strife, industrial action, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, war or threat of war, actual or threatened terrorist activity, epidemic and all similar situations beyond our control.

General Information

Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information set out on our website and marketing campaigns, we cannot accept responsibility for any errors or omissions, and reserve the right to vary, amend, supplement or cancel any of the information or offers featured on our website or email campaigns or otherwise at any time. .

For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these terms and conditions shall operate to attempt to exclude or limit The Royal Harbour Hotel's liability for the death or personal injury of any person caused by the negligence of The Royal Harbour Hotel or its employees, servants or agents or to attempt to exclude or limit The Royal Harbour Hotel's liability in any manner which would be unlawful.
